The Lowther Arms Community Project Ltd (LACP) is a Co-operative and Community Benefit Society created to buy and save the Lowther Arms village pub.

The Project has over 300 shareholders from the local community, and beyond, who came together to raise the money to buy the pub through the sale of Community Shares.

LACP also received support from a number of organisations including the Plunkett Foundation, Key Fund, Co-operatives UK, CAMRA, Allerdale Borough Council, Cumbria Community Foundation, Robin Rigg, and the Chamber of Commerce.

LACP are the landlords of the pub and lease to tenants. LACP has set the overall direction of the business as a welcoming, traditional, country pub serving great beer and home-cooked food, and the tenants are free to run the pub as they wish within this broad framework.

You can visit our website for further information here

LACP retains control of the small caravan and camp site associated with the pub and income generated from this site, plus the tenant’s rent, will enable the Project to continue to invest to maintain the fabric of the building and improve the facilities.  It will also enable the Project to fulfil its obligations as landlord and eventually generate a modest return for investors.  Shares can still be bought – simply follow the ‘Buy Shares’ link.

LACP would like to thank all its shareholders and supporters who have made the re-opening of the Lowther Arms possible!

Are you still doing gluten free ???

Hello are you open tomorrow Monday 22nd?

We need your help!
With the shop nearing completion (finally), we want to know what you’d like to see us sell!
Obviously we are not a big named supermarket and only have limited space, but we want to stock as much as possible for our village and holiday makers.
Comment below with suggestions and we will do our best.

We went to Buttermere recently and they sold “breakfast packs” for 2 people. Useful if you are camping or camper van-ing? You could approach our local holiday cottages to see if they have any suggestions.

basics bread butter milk local veggies, local products like Mowbray cheeses not posh jams etc from big companies if people in the village can't get out because of bad weather , road closed etc it would be great oh !and a few treats ! i guess the locals and regulars and tourists will tell you and you'll find out what people need and want as time goes by . great idea and i wish you success oh what about ready meals made and cooked by your chefs !

Little farm shop with local produce, veg/fruit dairy etc.

Free Range Eggs, Milk, and lots of Cadburys Whole Nut Chocolate....😍😍😍

Agree. Basic essentials. Butter, eggs, tea, sugar, bread, basic tins, rice, pasta, local produce. Not tourist things like posh jam, as Sue Leathers said above. We grow our own veg and often have a surplus. We’d be happy to donate this with any money raised going to the playground fund.

Toilet rolls ! X

Paracetamol!!

Good luck everyone 👏👏

a selection of pet food very important, if possible fresh baked bread / cakes Becky's Bakery here in Silloth do some fab stuff maybe you could sort a delivery just a thought.

Crackers to go with the Mawbray Cheese . Although last time I was there I spent £40 so may not be a good idea for you to have crackers to hand 🤣🤣 Eggs, sausage, bacon, milk and bread would be good

Local cheese. We was disappointed that even though there was local cheese across the road you had to travel miles to try some. But whatever you do I know it will be done very well. Its such an amazing friendly place x

Local farm eggs cheese jam etc

Bread, milk, butter, eggs, coffee, tea, fruit & veg, toilet rolls, laundry supplies, pet food, medical stuff like plasters, calpol, paracetamol, ibuprofen,Vicks, cordial, crisps & chocolate

Baby / toddler bits.

Chocolate!!

Bike repair kits

Milk, bread

Handmade gifts. I make jewellery and resin crafts at reasonable pricing ☺️

Local produce to help out the village and surrounding areas.

Yam myad jam

In typical British style, the kids go back to school and the sun comes out!
Why not take advantage of being child free and come in and see us.
We are open all day and serving food from 12-8pm today. Booking advisable as always but we do have plenty of seating in the beer garden to take advantage of the sun (while it lasts)!
We’ve got some exciting updates coming over the next couple of weeks about the opening hours, new menu, shop and the mini refurbishment ready for summer, so keep your eyes peeled!
